OSHA Outreach Training

At the Institute for Environmental Assessment, (IEA) Inc., our experienced consultants include certified Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Construction Outreach trainers and OSHA General Industry Outreach trainers. Our staff assists clients throughout the upper Midwest and beyond with OSHA-required training. They are available to teach 10- and 30-hour courses in construction safety, general industry safety and health hazard recognition and prevention.

10-hour outreach training classes

This class introduces OSHA regulations regarding workplace safety to entry-level employees in construction or general industry.

The 10-hour classes can include:

  • Walking and working surfaces
  • Means of egress and fire protection
  • Electrical
  • Flammable and combustible liquids
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Machine guarding
  • Hazard communication
  • Introduction to industrial hygiene/ bloodborne pathogens
  • Safety & health programs

30-hour outreach training classes

This class is designed for safety directors, foremen and field supervisors. It provides comprehensive instruction on OSHA compliance issues related to the construction industry or general industry.

The 30-hour classes can include:

  • Employer and employee responsibilities
  • Whistleblower protection
  • Record keeping basics
  • OSHA focus 4 hazards
  • Fall protection
  • Electrical
  • Struck by (e.g., objects, trucks, cranes)
  • Caught in/between (e.g., trench hazards, equipment)
  • Personal protective equipment
  • Stairways and ladders
  • Health hazards in construction

In addition, students in 30-hour training classes choose 12 hours from the following classes, which are customized to your workplace:

  • General safety and health provisions
  • Materials handling
  • Tools, hand and power
  • Cranes, derricks, hoists, elevators, and conveyors
  • Excavations
  • Fire protection and prevention
  • Welding and cutting
  • Scaffolds
  • Motor vehicles, mechanized equipment, and marine operations: rollover protective structures and overhead protection; signs, signals, and barricades
